About us
Yria Observatory is a mobile and easy way of exploring the universe. Our staff will bring this unique experience to your space; either it is your villa, hotel or school. Our visit and equipment is customized according to your needs and goals.
Guided by our passion and knowledge, we will introduce you to the hidden secrets of the night sky and take you on a journey through space, presenting showcasing stars, planets, the moon, nebulae and galaxies.
Our state-of-the-art equipment consists of robotic telescopes with all the necessary accessories for exploring the universe with ease. This equipment will be available for you during the whole procedure.

Robotic Dobsonian Telescope (10" Diameter Primary Mirror)
Our first telescope is a marvel of engineering, featuring a robotic Dobsonian design with a sizable 10″ diameter primary mirror.

Premium Astrophotography Setup (6" Newtonian Telescope on Equatorial Mount with Monochrome Camera):
For those seeking the ultimate astrophotography experience, our premium setup features a 6″ Newtonian telescope mounted on the equatorial mount Skywather EQ6R-PRO.
Paired with a high-resolution camera ZWO ASI 585mc-PRO, this setup is perfect for capturing intricate details of celestial objects with unparalleled clarity.

Solar Telescope (Acuter ST 40/400 Elite Phoenix H-α)
The mobile observatory Yria is equipped with the specialized solar telescope Acuter ST 40/400 Elite Phoenix H-α, mounted on a Solar Quest robotic tracking mount that automatically locates and follows the Sun.
The telescope uses a hydrogen-alpha (H-α) narrowband filter, allowing safe and detailed observation of the solar surface. Through this filter, students can witness remarkable solar phenomena such as sunspots, prominences, and flares.
With the aid of the robotic mount and a smartphone camera connection, students can observe the Sun live and safely, transforming astronomy into a hands-on and captivating educational experience.
Behind the Telescope
Christos Dalamagas
Physics Teacher – Founder of the “Yria” Observatory
Zakynthos, Greece
Christos Dalamagas is a Physics teacher with many years of experience in teaching Physics and Mathematics to junior high and high school students. He holds a degree in Physics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2015). Since 2015, he has collaborated with private tutoring centers, and since 2023 he has run his own private education business, providing specialized preparation in Physics and Mathematics for the National University Entrance Examinations.
In parallel, he is the founder of the “Yria” Observatory, an initiative that brings Astronomy closer to students through experiential and educational activities. Through “Yria,” he organizes solar observations, physics presentations, and astronomy nights, both in schools and at the observatory’s own venue, offering a unique experience of exploring the Universe.
His passion for education and science communication is reflected in his work, which combines scientific accuracy with an engaging pedagogical approach. He focuses on promoting scientific thinking, popularizing Physics, and utilizing technology and telescopes as tools for learning and inspiration.
His main areas of interest include Educational Astronomy and Astrophotography, the creation of interactive lessons, science communication, and the use of robotic telescopes and scientific equipment. Through his activities, he seeks to inspire in students a sense of awe, curiosity, and joy for discovery that comes from observing the sky.
